Information related to his christening, who sent gifts following his birth, and family history are written on the pages of the book. Interleaved between the pages and housed in attached envelopes are a number of photographs, letters, and other ephemera such as baby teeth and notes documenting the experience of Goss and his family during the first year of his life. Furthermore, some pieces of ephemera found in the book are dated 1908, and accomplishments or memories from Goss's life in 1911 and 1912 are written in towards the end of the book. The fabric cover of the baby book has the words "Our Baby" sewn on in white thread surrounded by sewn floral detailing.
Mounted black-and-white photographic print of Charles Lane Goss as an infant wearing a long white christening dress sitting in an arm chair. The embossed detailing of the green mount creates a circular frame around the photograph. The photograph was taken in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, in 1903 by photographer H. W. Osgood.
