Residence of H. P. Metcalf, circa 1930

Description

Unbound album stored in black leather cover embossed with gold lettering reading "H. P. Metcalf" on the binding. Album contains thirty-eight sepia-toned gelatin prints, twenty-six of which are exterior views of a Colonial-style house and the surrounding estate, including outbuildings, taken by architectural photographer Paul J. Weber. The other prints document the interior of the house, including furnishings and decorative elements such as wallpaper. The house was designed by William T. Aldrich and was likely built for Houghton Pierce Metcalf (1851-1958), nephew of Eliza Greene Radeke (1854-1931). The location of the house photographed is unknown. All thirty-eight prints are signed by Weber in the bottom right corner. The following is stamped on the verso of all thirty-eight prints: "Paul J. Weber / Architectural photographer."
