Description

Set of three architectural drawings by Edward Eldon Deane. The first is labeled "Two Houses in Rue St. Pierre. Caen [France]." It is dated August 20, 1875. The second is labeled "Old chair originally belonging to the old Vicar of Batley [England] 1670." It is dated December 29, 1875. The third is labeled "Old house in the Rue S. Martin Bayeux [France]." It is dated August 26, 1875. Two drawings are originals in pencil and the third is an original in ink. Each drawing is signed either "E.E.D," "Edward Deane," or "E.E. Deane."

Historical/Biographical Note

Edward Eldon Deane was born in England in 1851. He began his career as an architectural renderer, also known as a draftsman, in London. He studied at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London and worked in the city until he left England for America in 1883. Deane spent time in Massachusetts, New York, and South Carolina, among other locations while in America. Deane died in 1919.
