Historical/Biographical Note

Edward Clarke Cabot, an architect and watercolor painter, was born in Boston in April, 1818, and died in January, 1901. Cabot designed the new building for the Boston Athenaeum between 1847 and 1849, and he exhibited his paintings there in 1856. He was for many years a member of the Boston Art Club and the Boston Water Color Society as well as an honorary member of the American Society of Painters in Water Color.
