Description

Oval wooden bandbox with lid. Box (A) is covered with two layers of paper. The top layer has a pattern of naturalistic floral bouquets which have faded to brown and gold but originally were green, brown, and probably yellow. White background dots on gray ground. Traces of pink flowers on the same background and ground on interior rim. Box is lined with plain beige paper. Bottom of box has four loose layers of newspaper lining. Newspaper appears to be from Boston, MA area from circa 1918-1920. Lid (B) is covered with two layers of paper. Top layer has gold, green and brown geometric motifs on an off-white ground. Inside of lid is lined with plain beige paper. Interior of lid also has a small square of paper with a white and blue floral motif on a light blue ground.
