The image depicts a tablet at Judges Cave in New Haven, Connecticut. The inscription on the tablet details how Edward Whalley and his son-in-law, William Goffe, sought refuge there starting May 15, 1661, after being signers of the death warrant of King Charles I. It also includes the phrase "Opposition to tyrants is obedience to God." The tablet is dated 1896.
