Alice Atherton Blight (1873-1939) was born to Philadelphia lawyer Atherton Blight (1834-1909) and Anna Loring "Nina" Greenough (1847-1897). She was one of three daughters. Alice was regularly featured in the pages of society magazines throughout her life. Following a three year engagement, she married British diplomat Sir Gerard Augustus Lowther, 1st Baronet (1858-1916) in 1905 in Newport, Rhode Island.
