circa 1971
GUSN-364942
Reproduction of a sheet advertising "Syrup of Figs", a weight-on syrup. Claiming that there is "a pound in every bottle!", the advertisement contains illustrations of a woman before and after she gains weight using the syrup. The advertisement is made to look like it dates from the 19th century, but there is a copyright 1971 by Hickory Plaque in the corner. Hickory Plaque Inc., based out of Carson City, Nevada, was a company that sold gift, decor, and souvenir items (including faux "vintage" posters and advertisements) in the 1960s and 1970s. It is unknown if the advertisement is completely fake or a reproduction of an actual 19th-century advertisement.
