Description

Four albumen prints depicting the interior of Hastings Bakery in Brockton, Massachusetts. The photos are estimated as being taken between 1910 and 1930. Two prints are unmounted and two are mounted. The first unmounted print depicts the front of the store with various baked goods, such as breads and cakes, in display cases and on shelves. One unidentified woman and two unidentified men are pictured behind the counters. The second unmounted print depicts the kitchen of the bakery. Two unidentified men are pictured standing in front of the oven. Various supplies and cooking equipment are pictured. The first mounted print depicts the same kitchen space. Three unidentified men are pictured standing in front of the oven with one man inserting a bakestone, or "peel," into the oven. The second mounted print depicts one identified man kneading dough in the bakery kitchen.
