This panoramic view of the Public Garden was taken from the Beacon Street side. People can be seen on the pathways winding through it with benches, fountains, statues, and the lagoon. On the right side of the image streets and buildings intersect with Arlington Street. The Ether Monument by sculptor John Quincy Adams Ward can be seen just beyond the small fountain pool in the foreground. The George Washington statue by Thomas Ball can be seen facing Arlington Street. The horizon is punctuated by three steeples and one tower. The steeple on the right is Arlington Street Church. The steeple to its left is the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Washington Street in the South End. The large tower in the distance is at the Boston and Providence Railroad Station in Park Square. The steeple on the left side of the image is Park Street Church at Park and Tremont Streets.
