Description

Design drawing titled "Gothic Stool in Oak" rendered in watercolor and pencil. Perspective view is shown. Gothic Revival-style stool has overhanging top with molded edge; straight skirt with central carved circular motif which drops below apron; four carved splayed legs with block and diagonal-twist turnings; and carved H-stretcher with block and diagonal-twist turnings. Title, dimensions and "#2808" are handwritten on front. Embossed at lower left corner is "Irving and Casson / A. H. Davenport Co. / Boston - New York." Numerous handwritten notes on back include: price ($65); "#3A," "Detail 2808" and "No. 2808"
