The image depicts the south abutment of Bridge #400 from beneath the bridge in Winchendon, Massachusetts. The abutment is constructed from large, roughly cut stone blocks stacked in a staggered pattern. Above the stonework, metal beams are visible supporting the bridge deck. The ground below the structure appears uneven, with some exposed soil and rocks.
