Cabinet card depicting eight unidentified African American individuals, three women and five men, posing for a group portrait in Boston, Massachusetts circa 1878. Three individuals are standing and five individuals are sitting in front of them. The photograph was taken by photographer Lemuel Wallace Cook. Photographer's studio is printed on the verso: "L. W. Cook, / Photographer, / 145 Tremont Street, and 367 Washington Street, Boston."

Stamp printed on verso: "Given Feb 28, 1927 / By Wm. S. Appleton." Inscription written on verso: "between 1876-1880 / File: Races -- Negro / copy neg # 17224-B / HNE 0052 [scan]."
