Rena's Beauty Salon was owned and operated by Rena Blige (nee Singleton), 1917-1997. Blige migrated north from coastal South Carolina alongside her husband and daughter in the late 1940s. From the 1950s to the 1970s, she operated a beauty salon under varying names including Rena's Beauty Salon, Rena's Beauty Shop, Rena's Beauty Village, and more. All of these shops were on and around Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury, Mass. Rena's Beauty Salon was located at 265A Blue Hill Ave from 1958 to the late 1960s.
