Stamped information on the verso of several photographs identify a variety of photographers including George H. Boyer, Frank Mazanec of Fitchburg, the Telegram & Gazette [newspaper] of Fitchburg, Dave White of Fitchburg, and Sgt. Williams.

Fitchburg is a city in northern Worcester County, Massachusetts. Fitchburg was first settled in 1730 and incorporated in 1764.

Fitchburg is located on the Nashua River and an important railroad line. The original Fitchburg Railroad ran through the Hoosac Tunnel, linking Boston and New York. Leased to the Boston and Maine Railroad in 1900, the line is now operated as part of the MBTA.

Large mills, originally operated by waterpower, produced machines, tools, clothing, paper, and firearms.

Fitchburg hosts the Northern Worcester County Registry of Deeds, and was the location of the original county jail.
Fitchburg is home to Fitchburg State University, founded in 1894, and part of the University of Massachusetts system.

The Fitchburg Police Department was established in 1872, when Fitchburg was incorporated as a city. Before then, Fitchburg employed constables and "watchmen". Today, [2025] Fitchburg Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency responsible for 28 square miles and 192 miles of public roads.
