Bound black scrapbook with the word "Scrapbook" debossed on the cover in gold foil. The scrapbook was used as a sketchbook by Helen E. Sumner of Milton, Massachusetts. The sketchbook contains 36 pages, 25 of which contain Helen E. Sumner's pencil sketches and related ephemera dated 1868-1869. Sketches depict people, flowers, landscape, and furniture among others. The final 11 pages of the scrapbook contain news clippings dated 1943-1944. All of the clippings seem to have been written by John F. Hurley for a local newspaper. The individual who collected the clippings is unknown.
