Description

This series contains design drawings in pencil on tissue attributed to A.H. Davenport and Davenport Furniture Company circa 1800s-1916.
The design drawings depict a variety of furnishings including images of beds, case goods, chairs, chaise lounges, couches, details of objects, settees, sideboards, sofas, support furnishings, and tables. Little identifying information is shown on the materials. There is one matted pen and watercolor drawing of a sideboard included. There is one cyanotype stamped "Nabon Fanini" which may have been used as reference material. Some drawings include various views or measurements of the furnishings. There are pages from a book of furniture in German attributed to Max Graef, and pages from a catalogue of furniture in French.

Arrangement

Arrangement

The materials remain in the order they were donated. Drawings were numbered, foldered, interleaved, and boxed by The Carnegie Museum of Art. Subseries and folder titles assigned by the donating institution were retained and are enclosed by quotation marks. To facilitate access, the design drawings in this series have not been arranged further. Care should be taken to retain the current arrangement when handling drawings. A complete item level inventory, completed by The Carnegie Museum of Art, is available upon request from the Library and Archives.
