Description

Design drawing titled "Piano Bench of Gold" rendered in pencil on trace. Front view is shown. Empire-style rectangular bench has upholstered cushion; straight apron with carved rosettes at corners and intricate moldings on sides; four tapered reeded round legs with carved acanthus leavesa at top and palmettes at bottom; and tapered cylindrical feet. Title, design notes and "11325" are handwritten on drawing. Also are handwritten is: "Made for B. R. Menom N. Y. 13623 Job 39959 / " " W. F. Sheehan " 12286 " 37922." B. R. Menom may actually refer to B. R. Merwin.
