Historical/Biographical Note

John Langdon, Esq. (1741-1819) was a merchant, shipbuilder, Revolutionary War leader, Founding Father, signer of the United States Constitution, and three-term governor of New Hampshire. He was a member of the Federalist Party and served on the United States Congress for twelve years. He lived his entire life in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and is buried in the town's Old North Cemetery.
