Description

The image shows a historical marker for the Bunch of Grapes Tavern on State Street in Boston, Massachusetts. The marker commemorates the site where, on July 30, 1733, the first regularly constituted lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in America was instituted, now known as St. John's Lodge of Boston. It also notes that in 1786 the Ohio Company, pioneering the development of the Great West, was organized here under the leadership of General Rufus Putnam. The plaque was placed by the City of Boston on July 30, 1925.
