Description

Four watercolors of historic buildings located in Massachusetts, including The Wayside Inn in Sudbury, Massachusetts, the Longfellow House (also known as the Craigie House) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a churchyard in Cambridge, and one unidentified house. The watercolors are undated are signed with the initials "ESB."

The watercolor of The Wayside Inn includes the following excerpt from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem "Tales of a Wayside Inn:"
"A region of repose it seems, /
A place of slumber and of dreams, /
Remote among the wooded hills!"

The watercolor of a churchyard in Cambridge includes the following excerpt from Oliver Wendell Holmes's poem "The Cambridge Churchyard:"
"Like Sentinel and Nun, they keep their vigil on the green; /
One seems to guard, and one to weep, the dead who lie between."

The watercolor of an unidentified house includes the following excerpt from Oliver Wendell Holmes's poem "The Opening of the Piano:"
