Description

Six matted aquatints from the illustrated British periodical Repository of arts, literature, commerce, manufactures, fashions, and politics, more commonly known as Ackermann's Repository for Art or Ackermann's. While the artist is not listed, it is likely Rudolph Ackerman, the creator of Ackermann's Repository for Art, as he was a noted lithographer. The six prints depict various gardens and outdoor structures founds in gardens, parks, and in various nineteenth century agrarian locations. Featured are fences and gates, an ice well, a gameskeeper's lodge, and garden seats. Each print has a title, a number, a year of publication, a plate number, and a volume number listed on the recto. Two of the prints are dated 1816, two are dated 1819, one is dated 1820, and one is dated 1821.
