Joseph Everett Chandler diaries collection
The Walter M. Cabot House is located at 23 Hollis Street in Sherborn, MA. The Georgian Revival home with Federal elements was designed by architect Joseph Everett Chandler (1863-1946) and built in 1924 for Walter M. Cabot, Esq. The landscape and gardens were designed by the Olmsted Brothers. The house occupies the site of the Barak Leland House, which was built in 1750 and consumed in a fire in January 1915. Cabot bought the property in the early 1920s. The Cabot family descends from George Cabot (1752-1823), the American merchant, cotton mill owner, and politician from Salem, Massachusetts. The photographs of the Walter M. Cabot House were taken by renowned architectural and landscape photographer Paul J. Weber circa 1925. In 1981, the house was sold to Elaine and George F. Fiske, Jr.
