Hotel Pocahontas was a Victorian hotel on the grounds of Fort Poster on Kittery Point, Maine. The hotel was built in 1885 for Samuel Jennison. For a period of five summers, the hotel was run was Horace Mitchell (1857-1922), a local businessman, postmaster of Kittery Point, and politician who served in the legistlature and as a senator. He was well-known for his work in the hotel industry, working at institutions such as the Marshall House at York Harbor and the Hotel Wentworth at Newcastle, New Hampshire. He eventually left the Hotel Pocahontas to establish his own hotel, the Hotel Champernowne on Kittery Point across from his home, Sparhawk Hall. Hotel Pocahontas closed in 1904 and demolished in 1920.
