One side of the card announces that the steamer Canonicus will make excursions from Providence to Block Island every Tuesday and Saturday, weather permitting, starting on July 7, 1885. The verso has a description of the the signal flags of the New England Meteorological Society from the office of the Providence Journal and Bulletin.
