\li-15This series includes approximately 45 8 x 10, 5 x 8, and 5 x 7 glass plate negatives taken by an unknown photographer in Jewett City, Connecticut. The photographs provide insight into everyday life in New England in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The negatives depict buildings, churches, and parades, specifically 4th of July parades. Also included are images of fire engines, the building of the Aspincook Dam and the Slater Bridge, and the Devil's Hop yard. Lastly, the series includes portraits of unidentified individuals and family groups, presumed to be living in Jewett City at the time.
