This subseries includes glass plate negatives of houses, hotels, and other buildings throughout New England. Most of the houses depicted were originally built in the eighteenth century. The negatives from Massachusetts depict homes of famous authors, such as the Alcott Orchard House and the Emerson House in Concord. Also include are colonial house in Deerfield, Newbury, and Newburyport, the Royall House in Medford, and the Adams House in Quincy. The negatives from Maine feature colonial houses on Elm Island, the Peperell House in Kittery Maine, and the Kineo Hotel in Moosehead. The glass plates depict a variety of houses in New Hampshire, such as the Daniel Webster birthplace and the Franklin Pierce birthplace. Also featured are colonial taverns and school houses, as well as the Jackson House and St. John's Church in Portsmouth. In addition, the negatives from Connecticut depict colonial houses and mills in Litchfield and the John Brown House in Torrington., among others. Lastly, there is a negative of the Nathan Hale House in Coventry, Vermont.
