Indians

Description

This subseries contains glass plate and acetate or nitrate negatives that depict American Indians groups, individuals, and material culture. When this collection was originally organized by Yankee Publishing, they used the term “Indians,” which may now be considered outdated. However, the term has been kept to maintain the original order and context of the collection. The subseries features images include the Passamaquoddy tribe at the Topsfield Fair in 1928 and an archaeological dig run by Richard Wakefield in Carlton Wells, Truro, Massachusetts. Negatives 1907, 1910 - 1912, 1914, 1916, 1918, and 1922 are nitrate and have been removed to box 19, container 000017835.
