Longfellow House, home of "The clock on the stairs," Pittsfield, Mass.

Description

The house was actually owned by Thomas Gold and subsequently by Nathan Appleton, Longfellow's father-in-law. It was also known as Elm Knoll and inspired Longfellow's poem "The old clock on the stairs."
