John Warner Barber (1798-1885) was a Connecticut artist and engraver whose books of state, national, and local history featured his illustrations, which caught the flavor and appearance of city, town, and countryside.The younger brother of artist John Warner Barber, Edmund L. Barber (1808-1870) worked as a wood engraver. Born in Connecticut, he later relocated to and worked in California.
