Baptismal certificate for Rudolf Schimke, son of Freidrich and Caroline (Chuinovsky) Schimke, from the German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holyoke, Mass. Baptismal date is given as June 30, 1889, when Rudolf was about a year and a half old. Written entirely in German, the certificate contains printed Bible verses and Biblical scenes (mainly centering on the life of Jesus) engraved and printed with golden ink.
