In the late 1800s, the New York and New England Railroads promoted the areas around Highland Lake in Norfolk, Massachusetts as a spot for city daytrippers to escape the summer heat and congestion of urban areas. By the turn of the twentieth century, Highland Lake Grove offered many ammenities, including a long covered bridge, bowling alley, dance hall, a merry-go-round, a restaurant, a wharf with canoes and boats, a baseball field, summer houses, and swimming areas.
Today, Highland Lake in Norfolk, MA, is a peaceful body of water within a residential area. It covers approximately 95 acres and offers a serene setting for fishing, boating, and enjoying nature.
